Den digitale faglighed

Hvad forstår vi ved begrebet "digital faglighed"? Her er nogle udsagn fra biblioteksansatte!

  • en faglighed som hører hjemme i mange erhverv - umiddelbart mest (men ikke kun) tekniske erhverv.
  • hvor dygtig man er til den digitale del af vores fag.
  • it-kompetencer. En bibliotekar som forstår at udnytte internettets ressourcer, herunder især betalingsdatabaser.
  • vigtigt at brugerne opfatter at der er en person bag den digitale service.
  • den faglighed vi altid har haft underkastet nye digitale metoder eller nye færdigheder.
  • at man kan omsætte sin bibliotekariske faglighed til formidling via it. (f.eks. Elektroniske dokumenter af forskellig art)
  • at man har nogle grundlæggende it-kompetencer
  • at kunne navigere i de digitale informationer, ikke nødvendigvis vide hvor man kan finde alt, men have nogle metoder til at finde ”alt”.

    - At man acceptererer Google som det redskab de fleste brugere anvender.

    - At man ved hvilken type information den enkelte har brug for.

    - At man er it-kompetent og kan begå sig i diverse databaser, søgemaskiner osv.

    - At man er villig til at lære sammen med eller af låneren, da denne i nogle tilfælde vil være mere vidende end en selv!

    - At man sidestiller materiale i fysisk og elektronisk form og formidler dem på lige vilkår.

    - At en integreret formidling finder sted via bibliotekskatalogen, hvor fysiske såvel som digitale materialer er katalogiseret og registreret. Således man har styr på sine ressourcer via sine bibliotekariske evner til at søge information!

  • Digital faglighed er at finde, vurdere, producere, udvikle, udvælge og udnytte digitale informationer – og dermed (i modsætning til søgemaskiner) give den enkelte bruger adgang til værdiberiget information.

    Digital faglighed er at have fokus på brugerne (og ikke på samlingerne !), på service (”jeg finder dét, du har brug for !”),på kompetence og læring (”jeg kan lære dig, hvordan du hjælper dig selv og kommer videre !”) og på netværkssamarbejde.

    Digital faglighed er at være til rådighed 24 timer i døgnet 7 dage om ugen 52 uger om året – og dermed være uafhængig af det fysiske rum.

  • Udover de klassiske bibliotekariske kompetencer som fremfinding af information, læring, formidling og service, mener jeg, at bibliotekarerne i fremtidens netværksbaserede virkelighed med web 2.0, mySpace, Arto og Google er nød til at opdyrker kompetencer der:

    1. Gør dem i stand til at møde og interagere med brugerne, de steder på nettet, hvor de er.
    Det er med andre ord ikke nok at opbygge egne portaler og spørgetjenester. Man er også nød til at kunne bruge og forstå de netsteder som fremtidens brugere bevæger sig i f.eks. Arto.

    2. Gør dem i stand til at synliggøre og markedsføre deres kompetencer overfor andre end dem selv, så f.eks. skolelærere, politikere og andre kan få øje på, at bibliotekarer kan gøre en forskel på nettet.
    Der er med andre ord behov for at rebrande bibliotekar begrebet fra den støvede bogkustode til den dynamiske netguide, der forstår og agerer professionelt på nettet.

    3. Gør dem i stand til at kommunikere, samarbejde og lære med deres brugere, så brugerne føler, at der bliver lyttet til dem på lige fod.
    Det kan med andre ord være nødvendigt at afgive kontrol, give sin mening til kende og formidle subjektivt for på den måde at styrke den direkte uformelle kommunikation med brugerne, specielt på nettet.

  • Det meste er jo allerede sagt i kommentarerne her. Så der er kun lidt at tilføje. Generelt mener jeg at der aktuelt er behov for at bibliotekarer begynder at forstå at søgemaskinerne ikke 'bare' er det samme som de traditionelle biblioteksbaser og skal vurderes ud fra samme kriterier som disse.
    Internettet og vores digitale omverden er et helt nyt univers, hvor noget af vores traditionelle håndværk kan bruges, men hvor der så sandelig er behov for en nysgerrighed og iver efter at lære dette nye univers at kende. For det gør vores brugere nemlig. Og har vi ikke dette kendskab, hvorfor skulle brugerne så komme til os?
    Bibliotekarerne burde med vores kendskab til systemer, katalogiser og systematisering være mere offensive og gå forrest i udforskningen af dette nye digitale univers.
    Ikke bare se det som en elektronificering af noget allerede kendt.

  • Bibliotekarer har for mig altid stået som et venligt og hjælpsomt folkefærd, der er i stand til at fremtrylle materiale om hvad som helst. (Mine primære erfaringer er fra Roskilde Bibliotek og fra RUCs bibliotek)

    Når vi taler om bibliotekarernes digitale faglighed tror jeg at det her med at lære hvordan I bærer jer ad med at trylle er væsentligt. Altså som nogen allerede har sagt - at lære fra sig og at være villig til at lære noget den anden vej -

    Men derudover tror jeg også at en del af bibliotekarernes digitale faglighed kunne handle om "digital dannelse" - altså at fremtidens bibliotekar kunne hjælpe brugerne med at begå sig i den del af det digitale verdens billede, hvor man skal interagere socialt og indgå i samtaler med andre mennesker!

    For eksempel kunne bibliotekarer hjælpe brugerne med at bruge nyhedsgrupper eller wikipedia - ikke bare som søgeredskaber, men også som steder, hvor brugeren selv kan deltage?

  • Digital faglighed er at finde, udvælge, organisere informationer og formidle dem videre til brugerne. Undervejs evt. berige og gå i dialog med kilderne.
    Der skal skabes plads til den digitale faglighed ved at man skubber gamle rutiner til side og erstatter dem med nye. Det kræver en holdningsændring, nye kompetencer og en ny adfærd i mødet med bibliotekets brugere.
    Den digitale bibliotekar anvender alle former for digitale services og kilder, er kompetent i såvel brugen af dem, som i at undervise bibliotekets brugere i at anvende dem.
    Bibliotekaren som netguide er et godt udtryk, vi skal frygtløse kaste os ud på nettet, lære nyt og lære fra os.
